Homecloud Product Warranty Policy

Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

Effective Date: June 15, 2025

This Warranty Policy applies to the Homecloud product manufactured by Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as ‘Libernest Technologies’ or ‘we’). This policy outlines the terms and conditions under which warranty service will be provided.

1. Limited Hardware Warranty

Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd. warrants to the original purchaser that your Homecloud hardware product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of **one (1) year** from the date of original retail purchase.

During the warranty period, if a defect arises in the Homecloud product and you follow the instructions for returning the product, we will, at our option, to the extent permitted by law, either:

  • (i) repair the product using new or refurbished parts;
  • (ii) replace the product with a new or refurbished product that is equivalent to the product to be replaced; or
  • (iii) refund the purchase price of the product.

This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser of the Homecloud product. Proof of purchase (such as a sales receipt or dated invoice) is required for all warranty claims.

2. Recommended Operating Environment Conditions

For optimal performance and to maintain warranty validity, your Homecloud device should be operated within the following environmental specifications:

  • Voltage: 220 V AC (when using the provided or recommended power adapter).
  • Operating Temperature: 0°C to 50°C (32°F to 122°F).
  • Operating Humidity: 10% to 80% Relative Humidity, non-condensing.
  • Environmental Protection: Avoid direct exposure to sunlight, direct heat sources, moisture, excessive dust, corrosive substances, and environments with high vibration or strong electromagnetic interference. Ensure adequate ventilation around the device.

3. Exclusions from Warranty Coverage

This Warranty does **not** cover:

  • Damage not caused by manufacturing defects:
    • Any damage to the product caused by water, liquids, moisture, or extreme humidity outside the specified operating conditions.
    • Damage caused by drops, falls, impacts, or improper handling.
    • Damage resulting from misuse, abuse, negligence, accidents, alterations, or improper installation.
    • Damage caused by operating the product outside of the specified conditions, including but not limited to, incorrect voltage (e.g., other than 220V AC), power surges, or inadequate ventilation.
    • Failure to follow the product’s instructions or to perform preventive maintenance.
  • Cosmetic damage: Including but not limited to scratches, dents, and broken plastic on ports, unless failure has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship.
  • Consumable parts: Such as batteries, unless failure has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship.
  • Normal wear and tear: Including expected degradation of performance over time.
  • Problems caused by third-party accessories, parts, or components: If such components are not supplied or certified by Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
  • Repairs or modifications performed by anyone other than Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd. or its authorized service providers.
  • Damage or defects caused by natural disasters or acts of God: Such as lightning, flood, earthquake, fire, etc.
  • Damage caused by connecting to incorrect voltage supplies or power adapters not recommended for the Homecloud product (and by extension, the Raspberry Pi 5).
  • Damage caused by using the product in environments that do not meet the specified operating temperature, humidity, or other environmental conditions as outlined in Section 2.
  • Issues arising from modifications to the Raspberry Pi OS or OpenMediaVault beyond the standard configuration and the Homecloud custom code provided by Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

4. Limitations and Disclaimers

4.1. Data Loss and Recovery Disclaimer:

  • NEVER does this Warranty apply to the recovery or back-up on any digital data in the Product.
  • Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd does not guarantee the completeness of digital data stored in the Product during and after Warranty Service, and is not liable for any damages or losses of digital data stored in repaired Products.
  • Furthermore, Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd shall in no event be liable for, during the delivery of the Product, any damages to the Product and any losses of digital data stored in Products. Consequently, before sending the Product to Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd for Warranty Service, if it is equipped with storage function, it is suggested that you make a back-up of your digital data from the Product and remove those digital data from the Product.
  • Please acknowledge that:
    • There is NO guarantee that data recovery will be successful. Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd is NOT responsible for the recovery or transfer of your data.
    • You must work with the data recovery vendor directly to receive any recovered data.
    • Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd will have NO access to your data and is NOT responsible for data on your old drive in any manner.
    • Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd does NOT take any responsibility for your data, recovery of your data from your device, acts or omissions of the data recovery company and/or expenses during and after data recovery process.

4.2. Software Disclaimer:

Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd. does not warrant that the operation of the Homecloud product will be uninterrupted or error-free.

This Warranty does not cover software, including the operating system, pre-loaded software, or software loaded by the customer, and specifically excludes issues arising from the open-source software (Raspberry Pi OS, OpenMediaVault, and optional applications) beyond any manufacturing defect in our specific customizations.

Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd. expressly disclaims any warranty or liability related to the software running on Homecloud, including but not limited to the core operating system (Raspberry Pi OS), OpenMediaVault, Homecloud custom code, and all optional third-party open-source applications (e.g., Immich, Joplin, Jellyfin, Vaultwarden, Paperless-ngx).

No Warranty on Software: Software provided with or via Homecloud is distributed without warranty of any kind. Homecloud includes open-source software that is maintained by external communities, and the customer assumes full responsibility for reviewing and complying with the terms of each software’s license.

No Liability for Data Loss or Security Incidents: Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd. shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential losses, damages, or claims arising from:

  • Software malfunctions or bugs
  • Security breaches, unauthorized access, or data leaks
  • Misconfiguration, misuse, or failure to update third-party or Homecloud software

User Responsibility: The customer is solely responsible for:

  • Implementing appropriate data backup strategies
  • Maintaining proper access controls and software updates
  • Performing regular security audits and due diligence

By using Homecloud and enabling any bundled or third-party software, the customer agrees to these limitations and assumes full responsibility for data integrity and system security.

4.3. Intended Use and High-Risk Applications:

Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd provides consumer class Products. Since Products are not designed for extreme precision technology or absolute safety applications, it is not recommended to apply the Products in life support machines or other emergency equipment, which may lead to personal injury or death if such equipment is defective or suffers a breakdown, including but not limited to medical or medical-related equipment, military or military-related equipment, aircraft, traffic control equipment, disaster prevention systems, combustion control system, nuclear energy system, and so forth. Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd shall not be liable for any personal injury or death, or any loss or damages to property arising from such kind of application mentioned above.

4.4. Limitation of Implied Warranties:

Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd makes no other warranties, including any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, whether expressly or implied, for all the Products. In the event that any law or regulation of a particular country/region prohibits the exclusion of implied warranty (i.e. warranty of merchantability and fitness), the terms of Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd implied warranty shall be subject to such laws/regulations or the Warranty term hereunder, whichever is shorter.

4.5. Limitation of Liability:

Except as provided in this Warranty and to the maximum extent permitted by law, Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd is not responsible for direct, special, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from any breach of warranty or condition, or under any other legal theory, including but not limited to loss of use; loss of revenue; loss of actual or anticipated profits (including loss of profits on contracts); loss of the use of money; loss of anticipated savings; loss of business; loss of opportunity; loss of goodwill; loss of reputation; loss of, damage to, compromise or corruption of data; or any indirect or consequential loss or damage howsoever caused including the replacement of equipment and property, any costs of recovering, programming, or reproducing any program or data stored in or used with the Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd product.

5. How to Obtain Warranty Service

To obtain warranty service, please contact Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Customer Support through the contact information provided on our website. You will be required to provide:

  • Your name and contact information.
  • Product model and serial number.
  • Proof of original purchase (e.g., sales receipt, invoice).
  • A detailed description of the defect or issue.

You may be required to ship the product, at your expense, to an authorized service center designated by Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Products sent for warranty service must be properly packaged to prevent damage during shipment. Libernest Technologies Pvt. Ltd. is not responsible for damage incurred during shipping.
